Kiwi Techniques passed on
Park rangers from the Machalilla National Park on the coast of Ecuador, have succeeded in eradicating goats from Isla La Plata, an uninhabited island near Manta. They did this using the technical expertise and assistance of the Galapagos National Park who have become experts in these techniques thanks to the training they have had from New Zealanders. Kiwis were heavily involved in the recent eradication of goats, pigs and donkeys from Santiago and Isabela; the largest such operations ever. Isla La Plata is an important sea bird island, and is even home to a small number of Galapagos albatross.
