‘Extinct’ Galapagos Tortoises Species – can they live again? | December 19th, 2015

The discovery that tortoises on Isabela Island carry the genes of Pinta and Floreana tortoises – both species had been considered to be extinct – has aroused considerable interest and excitement in the conservation world. The possibility that over a number of generations Pinta and Floreana tortoises could be  restablished on their native islands is a bold  and intriguing idea.
